My preliminary adventures
|
When I'm not in the school ring -
I'm out having a good time at my
favorite dude ranch - 1000 Acres in
Stony Creek, NY.
Forest is a quarter/draft mix -- a
wonder horse--so much so that he
has been sold! While his gait
resembles the motion of an
earthmover, he is so trustworthy, I
would put a two year old on him.
Unless I wanted to "move out" a bit
on my trail rides, I always requested
him when at the ranch. If, on the
other hand, I wanted to do a little
running - Diesel was my choice -
the appaloosa pictured below with
Forest.
Caesar was my first and favorite
teacher! He is an appaloosa gelding -
now retired from the school ring and I
suspect on to the trails under western
saddle (how he was brought up
actually). Happy Trails, ol' buddy - I
shall miss you!
Shadow (below) is an Arabian. He and
his stable mate taught me much more
about the English seat and the
wonderful gaits Arabians are blessed
with. (What a difference from my
bouncy Caesar!). However, I also
learned from them that Arabians are
world-class when it comes to reacting
to the world around them--as you can
see in Shadow's photo. His attention is
split between me and whatever is in
front of us! Given my schedules, I don't
see Shadow or Sherrie anymore - but
they were both great teachers!
